Mark A. Congdon, AIF
CEO, Senior Partner
Mark started his financial services career in 1986 with IDS/American Express. He is an Accredited Investment Fiduciary with a Bachelor's Degree in Economics and Management from SUNY Geneseo. He has designed and authored retirement workshops for a number of corporations, including Kodak and Xerox. Mark is also an industry presenter, having educated advisors nationwide on long-term care, real estate, and best practices for financial planning firms.
Mark has been listed as one of the Top 100 Independent Advisors by Registered Rep Magazine. He is active within the industry, serving on the Advisor Council of the Financial Services Institute, voicing client concerns in both Washington and Albany. He lives in Geneseo with his wife Susan and has four children. Mark is an avid fisherman and enjoys spending time at his family cottage in the Thousand Islands. A fan of Abraham Lincoln, he collects Civil War and Underground Railroad memorabilia for the museum in the basement of the Henrietta office.
Terry J. Muchler, EPS
Terry began his financial services career with Metropolitan Life in 1989. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Marketing at SUNY Brockport and holds an Associate's Degree in Business Administration.
After five years with Metropolitan Life, he started his own independent financial services firm. In 1999, he affiliated Muchler Financial Services with The Horizon Group. With a keen interest in estate planning, he attended Tulane University to earn his certification in Estate Planning (EPS). Terry resides in Dansville with his wife Robin and has four children. He enjoys playing golf and is a past President of Rotary. Currently, he heads the steering committee for Dansville's new Community Center.
Timothy R. Hammond
Senior Financial Advisor
Since joining The Horizon Group in 1996, Tim has served as Director of Client Services for the firm. His responsibilities include financial planning and investment research, handling account reviews, and working on complex client issues. Tim has a unique ability to provide a concierge level of services to clients.
Tim graduated from SUNY Geneseo with a Bachelor's Degree in Management Science and still resides there with his wife Pam and their three children. As a lifelong member of the community, he has been a member of the Geneseo Fire Department for over 20 years, where he currently serves as the organization's treasurer. He enjoys skating in hockey leagues and coaching his children's youth teams.
Donald J. Kwarta
Don joined the Horizon Group in June of 2017 after over 35 years of experience at Kodak and Xerox. He has held a variety of managerial/executive positions in human resources, specifically in the area of employee benefits. Don was directly responsible for pension, 401k, medical and life insurance benefit plans, including plan design, administration and compliance worldwide. He looks forward to utilizing his extensive knowledge in employee benefits to assist people in the process of retirement.
Don earned a Masters of Business Administration from the Rochester Institute of Technology and also holds a Bachelorís Degree in Business Administration. He currently resides in Webster with his wife Chris and enjoys spending time with his children and grandchildren.
